Ariana Pomegranate From the collection of Dr. Gregory Levin. Garygella Reasearch Station, Turkmenistan. Fruit size is large. Color is a bold, bright red. Seeds are soft, small and almost nondetectable. Flavor is rated as very good, sweet and punchy. Rated as one of the best tasting varieties in the U.C. Davis, Wolfskill collection. Ripens October through November. 100 hour chill rating. Self-fruitful.
Cranberry Pomegranate Medium sized fruit, cranberry red exterior. Light to deep red arils, small seed. Mild acidity, flavor rated as very good. Developed by University of California. Fruit ripe October-November. Chill requirement 150 hours, self-fruitful.
Eversweet Pomegranate Very sweet, virtually seedless fruit. (Even immature fruits are sweet.) Red skin, clear (non-staining) juice. Harvest late summer through fall. Coast or inland. 8-10 ft. arching shrub, or train as tree or espalier. Large, showy, orange-red flowers. 150 hours. Self fruitful.
Parfianka Pomegranate Large size red fruit is sweet with a hint of acidity. Arils are red with very small edible seeds. Vigorous upright plant dependably sets a heavy crop. Maintain at any height with summer pruning. Consistently receives the highest praise for overall flavor. Great for juice or fresh eating. A Dr. Gregory Levin introduction through U.C. Davis. Reveille Southern Highbush Blueberry Southern Highbush. Midseason. DWN house favorite. This berry has pleasing crunchy texture and excellent flavor. Chilling hours are listed at 400-500 hours.
Black Satin Blackberry Thornless - Large firm berries 1.5" to 2", glossy black color fading to dull when ripe. Highly productive, semi-trailing vine with minimal suckering. Midseason harvest. Self- fruitful, but more productive with a second variety. Best in zones 5-9.
Boysenberry Thornless Rubus ursinus var. loganobaccus, a hybrid of blackberry, raspberry, dewberry and loganberry. Very large berry up to 2.5", dark maroon in color with an intense, tangy, sweet flavor. Excellent quality with few seeds and a pleasant aroma. Vine-like trailing growth habit. Harvest through summer. Olallieberry (“Olallieberry”) - Rubus argutus - Medium size berries are sweeter than tart with an old- fashioned wild blackberry flavor. Developed in Oregon but does extremely well in California. Harvest July through summer. Highly adaptable. Self-fruitful. Best in zones 4- 11.

Peggy Clarke Flowering Apricot Prunus mume 'Peggy Clarke' Prunus mume. Beautiful double dark pink flowers, distinctive fragrance. Early bloom. 20 x 20 ft. long-lived tree.
Peppermint Flowering Peach Prunus persica 'Peppermint' Naturally-occurring, artistic assortment of red, white, pink and variegated double flowers. Very showy and unusual. Fast growth to 20 ft. high by 20 ft. wide.
Fruitless Mulberry Morus alba 'Fruitless' Fast-growing, to 40 by 50 ft., dense shade. Tolerates summer heat, alkaline soil. Drought tolerant, but best with ample water and feeding. Not necessary to prune back to trunk each winter. All zones.
Valley Oak Quercus lobata (Quercus lobata) California White Oak. Native to California’s inland valleys and foothills. Massive trunk and limbs twist into unique shapes. Trees reach 70 ft. or more, equal spread. Dark green, deeply cut lobed leaves, dark gray checked bark. Prefers deep soil, tolerates alkaline soil. USDA Zones 4-10.
Western Redbud, clump Cercis occidentalis Single or multi-trunked tree to 15 by 15 ft. Spectacular, bright purplish-pink sweet-pea-shaped flowers. Yellow to red fall color. Drought tolerant, resistant to oak root fungus. Sunset Zones 2-24. Clump form is a multi-trunked tree.
Royal Purple Smoke Tree, bush form Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple' Purple foliage, rich purple "smoke": hazy-appearing clusters of fuzzy, purple flower stalks. Multi-trunked shrub or small tree to 20 by 20 ft. Likes cold, needs good drainage, resists oak root fungus. All zones.
Weeping Willow Salix babylonica Fast-growing, cold hardy, short dormant period. Long narrow leaves, pronounced weeping growth habit. Needs plenty of water. Stake high to develop usable area underneath. 30 by 30 ft. or larger.
